"We are in shock! Totally destabilized, everything is different, we are left alone with our fears and our pain. The soul is screaming. The distance between the real world and itself becomes an element of survival. We find comfort and security by separating emotionally from all those who might be close to. You learn to live with it, but it's always there, even when everything may seem normal to others. We relive the attack, through nightmares, flashes and memories.
That trauma changes life, it is the bleeding of the soul!
Some back the traumatic event all their lives and others will have their personality destroyed, unable to find peace. The victim then has no choice: either to fight, cultivating his hatred for the rapist dreaming of revenge, or she flees, trying to forget shutting off all emotions not to suffer the pain of this coming life which must nevertheless continue, falling back on itself, becoming insensitive ...: Neither emotions or desires ... To not feel anymore! "

Statistique Canada Les agressions sexuelles au Canada 2004
Quantifying sexual assault is difficult, because the vast majority (91%) of such crimes are not reported to the police. Based on the self-victimization in the context of the GSS (General Social Survey) 512 000 cases of sexual assault, giving a rate of 1 977 incidents per 100 000 people aged 15 and over. Like most sexual assaults are not reported, the number of sexual assaults reported to the police is much lower, about 24 200 sexual offenses were recorded by police in 2007. Police data, which contain information on victims of all ages, show that in 2007 more than half (58%) of sexual assault victims were aged under 18, children under 12 years representing 25% of the victims. The vast majority of them were female (81%). The police have also indicated that the types of sexual assault (level 1) the less serious, who constituted the majority (86%) of sexual offenses, the remaining 14% constituting forms of sexual assault and the most serious other sexual offenses, the invitation to sexual touching and sexual exploitation.

The results indeed show statistically significant improvements in symptoms of post-traumatic stress. They clearly demonstrate the usefulness of a structured intervention group with sexually assaulted adolescent girls .
